Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) are becoming more and more popular with traders and investors globally. In the United States, there are currently 2,635 ETFs (as of April 2022). In April 2018, there were 1,880 ETFs in the market, which means in the last 4 years there have been 755 new ETFs added! And the amount invested in these ETFs continues to rise as well. There is currently $6.81 trillion invested in US-based ETFs, compared to $3.45 trillion four years ago, an increase of $3.36 trillion.

However, despite the large amount of ETFs in the market, a small number of funds control a majority of assets. In fact, the top 10 ETFs in the market control 28.5% of all ETF assets ($1.94 trillion)!
